My Focus

Assalamu Alaikum.

I go by the name of Hakim and I am an 18-year-old student at Newham College.

I have been living in Newham, East London, for just over 16 years after moving from Uganda in 1993.

Originally, I wanted to do IT or performing arts with some photography. When I asked my tutor for advice, she recommended the Creative and Media diploma.

I was accepted and joined the course as it covered these fields and many more.

My Ambitions:

I am called a ‘DREAMER’ by friends and family because of my wild ambitions. I aim to do a lot in my lifetime and I'm very determined to achieve them.

I hope to one day be involved in international politics in order to help people worldwide. I'm still not sure how, but I know I will.

For now, I am taking one step at a time. I'd like to continue studying media at university whilst majoring in Government and International Relations.

2Pac Umaru Shakur is someone I admire. He once said something that rings in my head everyday: "I know I'm not going to change the world, but I hope to spark the mind that does." I feel the same way as he did, and if I don’t succeed with my dreams, I hope these words will inspire someone else so that they can learn from them.
