I have completed various projects during my year here.
In Visual Arts we were put in groups of themes: Baroque, Gothic, Anarchy and Futurism. I made a 3D object in my baroque group. I also had to produce a website that linked with my theme using Adobe Dreamweaver and Photoshop.
For my Weymouth project, I created a board painting based around the theme of Portland Stone and Newham. I enjoyed making my final canvas and chose it as one of my pieces to exhibit at the college exhibition. Overall, this painting that I produced for my Weymouth project is my favourite piece of work.
I also worked on various photography assignments based on topics such as street fashion, snow, picture boards and flowers.
I have enjoyed being able to use a combination of digital resources, media, and different materials that included coloured pencils, acrylic paint, foam boards, digital cameras, Dreamweaver and Photoshop.
Buongiorno, I’m Lily Marie.
I have always wanted to work in the media industry and came on the Creative and Media diploma at Newham College because my school didn’t offer the type of media course I wanted.
The course has provided me with many opportunities. I have produced loads of work on my projects and gained lots of work experience at MTV, the Press Association and BBC.
Hopefully, by the end of this course, I will be able get on to a higher-level media course and then go to university to study media performance or photography.
I am outgoing and have a bubbly personality. Being a TV presenter would be my dream job. It’s something I have been passionate about and determined to pursue since I was at school.
My ideal role would be the presenter of an entertainment programme along the lines of Channel 4, Big Brother or otherwise be able to work on radio.
If I wasn't successful in becoming a presenter, I am quite interested in photography so that would be my back up.
Anyway enough of me jabbering on check out the rest of the site its bang tidy!
For the college presentation, I decided to exhibit my favourite photography pieces and the Weymouth painting. I decided to display these because I was very proud and fond of them, as I put in a lot of work and effort into creating them.
I have gained so much being on this course and learnt a lot on the trips I have been lucky to go on.
I have had the opportunity of working with MTV on an advert that I appeared in, which involved talking about the positives and negatives of going to university.
I spent 10 weeks at the Press Association which allowed me to gain an insight into how journalists work. Whilst there, I helped to organise a press conference that featured Clive Lissaman from Skillset and worked on a web project developing the look and content for our Newham Creative Minds website.
At the BBC, I recorded a radio show and learnt how to use the studio equipment.
Over the year I have become a more rounded person working on various practical projects and activities with other students. I have been able to develop my oral, listening and numeracy skills and learnt how to multi-task across projects to meet tight deadlines.
On the media job front, I have done some research and asked the various trainers and industry people that I have met about the best way to get into the media industry. However, I already have a clear idea of what I want to be; a presenter.
